Peguis Child and Family Services present community history

 by Twyla Siple, Interlake Spectator

Our History Our Peguis was a production created by David Dorian Boulanger under the direction of Peguis Child and Family Services Executive Director, Clemene Hornbrook.

Images, documents and interviews from indigenous community members from all over Manitoba pieced together the project that sought to tell Anishinaabe history from the perspective of the Indigenous people of not only Peguis, but all of Manitoba.

Peguis CFS Staff stood with each speaker after their sometimes emotional presentations, supporting each individual that was able to make it out to the sometimes live, sometimes pre-recorded presentations.

Each presentation was unique for a total of eight. Two were made in Winnipeg at the Circle of Life Thunderbird House on May 2 and 7, two were made in Selkirk at the Memorial Hall on May 4 and May 18, and the most attended with more than 200 people were held at the Peguis Multi-Plex on May 9 and 16.
