Jets face Canucks in playoffs

The Stonewall Jets are set to face the St. James Canucks in a playoff series after finishing fifth in the MMJHL standings, while the Canucks came in fourth after 45 games played this season.

Stonewall was scheduled to face St. James at the St. James Civic Centre March 6 at 7:30 p.m. Final scores were unavailable at press time.

Game 2 will be played at the Veterans Memorial Sports Complex March 8 at 7:45 p.m. Game 3 will be back in the city at 1:55 p.m. March 11. 

Jets 3 Transcona 2
The Jets won their last regularly scheduled MMJHL league game Feb. 28. Stonewall beat the Transcona Railer Express 3-2 at the Veterans Memorial Sports Complex.

In the first period, neither team were able to bury the puck. In the middle frame, Transcona’s Nik Kowalski scored the period’s solitary goal.

The Jets shot into action in the third, with three goals from Andrew Bayduza at 15:04, Bryce Stovin at 14:41 and Aiken Chop at 12: 32.

Transcona’s Ryan Kotchon netted a goal towards the end of the frame but Stonewall had already secured the 3-2 win.
