Lundar Falcons fly past Arborg Ice Dawgs

Arborg Ice Dawgs player Clint Torfason has been named a 2017-18 KJHL All Star along with 11 other outstanding players.

 

 

 

The Lundar Falcons cruised to a 5-2 victory when they faced the Arborg Ice Dawgs in their KJHL game Jan. 27. 

 

In the first period, Arborg opened the scoring with a goal from Cal Finnson on the powerplay at 13:16. 

 

The Falcons equalized with a goal from Koby Carriere with less than 20 seconds remaining. 

 

In the middle frame, the Ice Dawgs took another bite, netting a goal from Gordie Longbottom at 5:05. Lundar was not to be out done and added two more goals courtesy of Landon Gray and Drake Zimmerman, the latter during a buzzer-beating powerplay. 

 

The last period was a Falcons show. Zack Bone and Landon Gray netted two goals to secure the 5-2 win. 

 

 

KJHL results

 

The Ice Dawgs were scheduled to play the St. Malo Warriors Jan. 26 but the game was cancelled due to inclement weather. 

 

The Peguis Juniors defeated the Fisher River Hawks 9-5 at the Fisher River Arena Complex Jan. 23. 

 

As well, the Falcons were scheduled to play the North Winnipeg Satelites at the Billy Mosienko Arena Jan. 30 at 8 p.m. Scores were unavailable at press time.

This year’s all-stars were recently chosen. One player from each team was selected by the team and the top two goalies all-round were chosen.
