Steelers, Pistons split weekend games

The Selkirk Steelers ran out of gas in their home and away games against the Steinbach Pistons.
 

The Steelers edged the visiting Pistons 4-2 in front of 218 fans at the Selkirk Recreation Complex Sept. 15
 

Selkirk’s Ryan Piwniuk opened the scoring for the Steelers on  pass from Matthew Caruso. Steinbach evened the score before the first came to a close.
Selkirk controlled the second period, scoring three unanswered goals. Finding the back of the net were, Carson Tiede, Carter Barley and Ryan Gardiner.
Steinback’s Braden Purtill scored the lone goal of the third.
 

It was a different story for the Steelers on the road at the T.G. Smith Centre as they were defeated 5-0 Sept. 16.
 

Selkirk takes on the Pistons once again when they travel to the T.G. Smith Centre Sept. 22 for a 7:30 p.m. start.
