Not a good start to the New Year for Jets

Glen Hallick, The Stonewall Argus & Teulon Times

The New Year didn’t get off to a good start for the Stonewall Jets as they were trounced 9-1 by the St. Boniface Riels.

The host Riels scored all of their goals before Brock Couch registered Stonewall’s lone goal with about two minutes left in the game.

Scoring for St. Boniface were: Jens Giesbrecht, Kyle Vouriot, Brett Charette, Mackenzie McGuffin, Brennan Frykas, Skyler Eastman, Stanislav Izekov (2), and Sean Christensen.

The loss is Stonewall’s 23rd of the MMJHL season and leaves the Flyers firmly in second last with nine points.

The Flyers return to action Sunday evening when they host the Fort Garry/Fort Rouge Twins at 8 p.m.
